Your Site's Link Popularity - Ultimate Step To Your Search Rankings

So how do you drive traffic to your site, easiest answer is create quality content. But how will an enterprise which has a quality offering get people to their site and ultimately to their product offerings. It all depends on how well your site is placed on the Google search results. If your site is placed within in top 30 results of the Google search results, chances of people flocking to your site are high. Beyond the first 30 results, in my opinion, the chances of people trying a different set of keywords increase.
I came across this interesting topic on link popularity today. But that is later.
Here are my 2 cents on the myths and realities of search rankings
  1. Google considers both on-site and off-site factors when deciding on your search rankings. Some of the onsite factors may include, assigning Meta Tags on your pages, though there are contradictions in this statement, some say that Google does not consider Meta Tags while others say that it does
  2. Off - Site factors roughly are said to be of 35 - 45 % importance to Google's search criterion or simply the algorithm

Experts claim that what Google really looks for now is the quality and quantity of links pointing to your website. This leads us to question, whether getting 50 links from websites with good page rank is better than 200 links from websites with lower page ranks. I read at the aforementioned link that 1000 links from different websites with low levels of Page Rank work better in increasing your rankings within the organic results of Google.

Further, Google looks at

  1. Where the link is placed on a website, more value is given to a link within the textual content as opposed to a link at the bottom of the page
  2. Text that surrounds the link
  3. Title Tags and SEO factors like H1 Tag and META data
  4. How words are related to each other, this is more related to the words of the page where the link is originating from

Then, how do I increase my link popularity

  1. Press Release Distribution: Make the content of your Press Release interesting enough for the publishers to write about
  2. Purchase Links: Not most effective as you do not get the best links and many times not within the textual content
  3. Link Baiting: Your will have to come out with unique and popular link content
  4. I will not divulge the last thing because as a blogger I believe that it is important for us all to realise the importance of collective enlightenment. You can read this here on a post on Link popularity.
